I had the fabulous opportunity to go see Mr. Dave Barnes at the Exit/In on Friday night. It really took me back to my childhood (er, a few years ago) when I was head over heels in love with him. One time, a friend and I were talking to him after a show and I was so nervous that I couldn't say anything and I just kept playing with my scarf (i NEVER get that way) and finally he looks at me, smiles, and says "I like your scarf.". Um, be still my heart.

Trashy TV: Monday-Friday
As much as I hate to admit it and as much as I would love to stop, I am pretty much obsessed with Trashy Television, ESPECIALLY trash reality televisino. My channel of choice? Bravo of course. I will never tire of The Real Housewives of Orange County, but I have expanded my horizons with The Real Housewives of Atlanta and as of late I have been engrossed in The Real Housewives of NYC Season 2 [bitches].
Lets discuss: The "Real" (they are talking about breasts right?) "Housewives" (um, really?) of Orange County are pretty much exactly what you think they would be: a bunch of catty, dense women who are perpetually in high school ( and try to pretend that they have "real jobs" in "real estate"...........oh and there's Vicki who sells insurance, supposedly gets many accolades from her peers, and yet is still not quite the sharpest knife in the drawer [that cost cost $250k and is custom made from Dolphin kisses- there are only 2 others like it in the world!]). These women know about as much about being a "Housewife" as I know about being a rocketscientest. Bravo should start a show called "The Real Housewives of Maury County"- that shit would be REAL.
But, bless their hearts, I love 'em anyway.
But these Real Housewives of NYC (again, I use the terms "real" and "housewives" loosely) are some tough broads. They pull out the big guns, and that I can admire (you hear that Gretchen? Any ole girl can win the love of a dying rich man. You're going to have to step up your game if you want to impress me). These women get in "catfights" in the gossip columns New York City's biggest papers. I. LOVE. IT! Oh there is so much drama, and so much snottiness, and so much loooong eyelind accent that my little heart can barely stop itself from bursting with joy.
If you are not watching this show, you should be. Your mushy mind and hardened heart will thank you!
RICKYGATE 2009
Dear Readers,
I will try my best to not overrun my blog with American Idol updates that most of you do not care about. However, I will use this blog to shameless promote one former American Idol contestant (*cough* Ricky Braddy *cough*) and bring light to the COMPLETELY unfair way that he has been treated by American Idol and Fox.
Let's start with a recap- Ricky's performance from Tuesday night [sorry for the awful video quality]:
The judges were incredibly complimentary of him (with the exception of Simon, but what else is new? His only real complaint was that Ricky lacked star quality, and frankly, that can be fixed and we all know it [Clay Aiken anyone? Anyone? Bueller?]).
This performance somehow didn't guarantee him a spot in the Top 12. But, um, this one was good enough to make it through?
aaaaand the judges hated him.
Then, to add insult to injury, Freemantle Media and Fox shut down Ricky Braddy's fansite (thebraddybunch.com) because they said it gives him an unfair advantage- ridiculous!!!
What gives contestants unfair advantages is the amount of coverage that Fox gives them prior to performances and voting. I like Danny Gokey, I do, but I wonder if he would've made it through over Ricky (or Anooop D-O-Double G) if they hadn't really focused on his life story and, frankly, played the sympathy card on his behalf. Michael Saver got a LOT of screen time, and Ricky got basically zero. I don't think there is even a question of whether or not this effects the votes- it does.
Other fan sites have not been shut down- why has Rickys? A legal answer that was given on a message board on Anoop Desai's website (from Anonymous- could it be the same Anonymous that is trying to take down the Church of Scientology? Hmmmmm) claimed that the site was shut down because it was promoted on the show and that gave Ricky an unfair advantage.
Let's evaluate:
1) Ricky's parents had on t-shirts that said "I'm in the Braddy Bunch". No website was listed. However, if that was a problem, the producers had AMPLE amounts of time prior to air to ask them to change.
2) Ryan himself brought attention to their t-shirts and mentioned that Ricky already had a fan club going
3) Ricky's mom accidentally gave out the wrong website!!!!
What is CLEARLY going on here is that American Idol & Simon Fuller are afriad that a "Grassroots Campaign" might actually be successful enough to have a winner of American Idol instead of their agenda being blindly followed by viewers who don't catch on to the fact that they are being manipulated and tricked into choosing the exact contestant that the producers want them to choose.
What can you do about it?
The answer is, I'm not sure. But let's try a few things.
1) Continue to support Ricky (head on over to missingsquare.com)
2) Let's send some emails. These will likely be checked by interns who will simply delete them, but perhaps if enough of us bitch that Ricky's (and others) lack of screentime was an "unfair DISadvantage" something will get through.

Riddle Me This Joker....
.....when searching for the video of Beyonce's new song "Diva" (see post below), my first stop was obviously YouTube. Bang, tons of results- all of which say "embedding disabled by request".
This is some fuckery.
How on earth do these artists think that we are going to see their videos if not on blogs and other web pages (besides YouTube). Surely they dont think that MTV and Vh1 still play videos? (Except in the morning when I am getting ready- thank you Vh1). If you were spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on music videos, wouldn't you want people to see them anywhere they possibly could?
Thank goodness for imeem- it saves my blogs music life on a daily basis.

Maybe I'm Just Not That Into Him
On Valentine's Day I rounded up two of my very special gal pals and we went to catch a movie- He's Just Not That Into You.
"Perfect," I thought. "No lovey dovey crap here."
The movie begins with Ginnifer Goodwins character GiGi (which half of the characters pronounced JzeeJzee) being completely desperate- think Fatal Attraction. I mean, this girl is crraaaaaazy. Then she meets Justin Long who tells her that no man likes her, she's not the exception she's the rule, and that she'll never be happy (basically).
Scarlett Johansson is a husband stealing crazy in this movie. Ben Affleck is afraid of commitment. Jennifer Connelly is frigid and weird. Jennifer Aniston acts desperate to get married (what else is new). Drew Barrymore is just generally kind of crazy (what else is new). Kevin Connelly is kind of a tool, and Bradley Cooper is an adulterer (but, spite me, i still love him!).
Again, perfect. There is absolutely nothing lovey dovey about this movie. I figured, no one will end up together and everyone will be unhappy and out of love (just like me!) on this Valentine's day.
Until the end. Spoiler Alert- Everything wraps up with a pretty little bow.
The idea that no one has a perfect ended was basically pounded in my head through the entire movie, but then EVERYONE has a happy ending! How dissapointing! How very anti- anti Valentine's Day! This did NOT make me happy.
Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the movie. I'd prolly give it 4 out of 5 Friends (i give Friends instead of Stars or Thumbs Up- this is new). But take my advice- don't watch it on Valentines Day.

Have you ever seen the segment on SNL during "Weekend Update" where Seth Myers just says "Really???" over and over to ridiculous things?

Lindsay has spoken out publicly to say that she eats just as much as she always has! Really??? Lindsay, we were never really concerned with how much you eat, we are more concerned with the amount of drugs you are taking!
She went on to say that her weight loss isn't intentional and that its due to "working a lot, stress, and lack of sleep". Really?????
Working a lot you say? Um, on what exactly? Being the best lesbian you can be? Trying to not to fuck around on Sam with a man?? Really??? Last I checked, you haven't had a movie out in AGES. The only, ahem, work I've seen you do is travel and party- and not only are you having fun but you're losing weight?! Sign me the hell up!
Lindsay also stated that she's never weighed herself in her life- really??? Not even when you go to the doctor, or are admitted to the hospital ( a few times a year)? Really??? Lindsay, do you remember the last time you got Skeletor skinny and accidentally slipped and told Vanity Fair that she had a drug problem. Don't remember that Lindsay? Really??? Let me refresh your memory
Um, yeah. We know you're on that Special K, that cocaine, maybe even the crystal- Lindsay, you have a receding hairline- really???
Really, Lindsay, get some help. Get some work (real work). Get some male loving (we know you want it). Really, just get over it. Really.

American Idol Season 8!!!
Friends, Americans, Countrymen, Lend me your ears!
Do you watch American Idol? Yes? No? If you answered that question either way, then you should watch this season! I know, I know, sometimes AI can be kind of lame, and sometimes it produces untalented, um, "talent" (calling Fantasia Barino- i dont know if that's how you spell her name, but i dont even CARE-that is how untalented she is).
But THIS season will be different from all of the others for one reason and one reason alone: Ricky Braddy.
Who? You might be saying.

...I might answer.
He went to Belmont University. He's very good friends with some of my very good friends. We saw the Dark Knight together. He's incredibly talented (He sang " A Song for You" at one of his shows when we were in college- nearly brought me to my knees). Do you need any more reasons to watch/vote for him?
Isn't it about time that we have an incredibly talented MALE American Idol???? I say yes!
Ricky is officially in the Top 36 and (i believe) voting starts this week. I will try to keep everyone updated but if I happen to slip, get info on Ricky here and here.
