THE GRAMMYS

Last night's Grammy's was, without a doubt, one of the best Grammy Awards in YEARS. Nearly every performance was spot on, the presenters were for the most part on point with just a hint of comedic relief, and the FASHION was so Old Hollywood in the best way. Overall, I was pretty obsessed with the night......with one major exception. Who keeps asking LL Cool J to host this thing? The guy isn't bad, but he's just SO stiff. I get that the host isn't the major part of the Grammys, but why can't we get an Ellen Degeneres or a Neil Patrick Harris to host this jam? Consider it, Recording Academy.

Also, can we all agree that part of the reason The Grammys were so great this year is because there was no Lady Gaga, no Nicki Minaj, no STUNT QUEENS in general?

Now, let's jump into some fashion....my FAVE! The Grammys are a classy affair, so I don't enjoy it when people dress super hoochey, or when something like THIS happens, but it's also not the Oscars, so I equally hate when people don't take any fashion chances and are a little too stiff with their Red Carpet choices.

LOVE

I realized last night while watching the telecast that not everyone is equally excited about JT's "return" to music [don't call it a comeback!], but it is exciting for some of us because he does bring something a little different to the scene. I'm not sure that I'm loving his new 'do, only because it kind of makes him look eleven-teen, but he looks SUPER sharp in that tux and those loafers.

Frank Ocean, I am not impressed with your outfit, much like I was not impressed with your performance. I will say to everyone that is talking badly about Frank's performance- 1) You are not wrong. It wasn't a great performance BUT 2) there is good stuff on his album. If you aren't familiar, give him just one shot.

GURL! Why you gotta do us like this?? I appreciate that you stepped out of your usual choice of Navy or Black and went for something punchy, but didn't anyone on your team tell you how UGLY this is??? It literally looks like the outfit that was planned for the night fell through, so the stylists dramatically ripped down the drapes in the hotel room and whipped up this dress! Barftown USA! The shoes would have been lovely on their own, but you can't put a floral dress with floral shoes. Don't be crazy!

Her performance was WEIRD, and she was SO annoying throughout the entire show, but I gotta say, I'm loving this look. This dress is fantab, and am I the only one who thinks this would be a really rad wedding dress? My only complaint remains, this girl has got to get some color in her hair. Why does she insist on keeping this mousy bronde color? Me no likey. But the outfit gets two thumbs up.

Beyonce could wear a paper bag and look fabulous, and this outfit is no exception- she looks amazing. However, I'm just not a big fan of this outfit. I'm sure it is House of Dereon, which I respect, but I just think it's super boring. Its a great outfit to wear on David Letterman, but a bit of a snooze fest for the Grammys.

HATE

This look confuses me so much. Is Kimbra trying to look like Regina Spektor, Bjork, or a figure skater? The combo does not work for me.

Love him or hate him [most likely the latter], the guy looks sharp on the red carpet.

There is something about this that I really like, and something about it that I just can't get on board with. It is essentially a body suit with a skirt on one side which, when you say it out loud, doesn't sound like a good idea. But somehow, somehow, that JLo pulls off the impossible once again. If this were on anyone else, I would have hated it instantly, but she manages to work it, so congrats to her for that. I bet her mom is proud.

How old is Carrie Underwood again? Cause she looks about 42 here. This dress is so matronly! It does her no favors in the age department, and is precisely what I was talking about when saying that some folks dress too stiffly for the Grammys. Also, that hair. No  ma'am. Why is everyone in Country Music so opposed to getting a few hi and low lights? They are good for you people!

Get, get, GET IT girl! There is simply no denying that Katy Perry looked absolutely STUNNING last night. And those BOOBS- can you even handle it? Based on his track record, you can tell what John Mayer's favorite lady asset is.

Mostly, I'm just bored here. Hair? BORING. Dress? Is it a quilt? BORING. Makeup? BORING. Shape? BORING. Bored, bored, bored. Eat a cheeseburger, pull your hair up, throw on some red lipstick and put more sparkles on your dress and get back to me in a year.

This guy can't even be real, right? His name is evidently Riff Raff, but I swear he's the love child of Bono, K-Fed, and Ali G. At one point last night, I spotted him sitting behind Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert and I made the entire room sit through a live rewind so they could all see what I saw. Seriously, who let this joker into the GRAMMYS??

Kelly Rowland, once again relevant thanks to last weeks Superbowl, looks stunning in this dress! It shows just enough skin to make it edgey and interesting, but not so much skin that she couldn't be wearing it when Jesus comes back.

Drizzy Drake looking sharp as a tack! Yum yum Slurp!

LOVE

Rihanna. Girl, yes. Just yes. This is a look that suits you! Long hair, don't care, you look fabulous from head to toe. Say what you will about Rihanna and Chris Brown getting back together, but they both LOOK better when they are together. I love this look for her and hope it means she is taking her fashion in a slightly more grown up direction.

LOVE

Florence Welch was GETTIN IT last night. I just love it when red heads wear this beautiful, emerald green green color. Also, she evidently has an amazing bod and this dress fits her perfectly!

As you can tell, I kind of ran out of hate there at the end because there were a lot of really great fashion moments last night. Stay tuned during the day as I post some of my favorite performances from last night for Music Monday!
