The British Are Coming, The British Are Coming!!

The British and their glorious royal wedding are here!!! I am currently having an internal debate as to whether or not it will make me a LOSER to stay at home alone on a Friday night and watch all of the pomp and circumstance [shout out to my DVR for giving me this option].

Here are a few photos to entice those who, like me, haven't seen any of the footage yet.

This photo is absolutely lovely. I do have a couple of questions: While Kate's dress is absolutely gorgeous, it does seem a bit more like a winter dress, no? Now, it very well may still be quite chilly in jolly ole' England, I'm not sure, so perhaps that is what called for the long sleeves [or perhaps it was by the Queen's demands!]. My other question is: why in the world is the Maid of Honor, Kate's younger sister Pippa, wearing WHITE?? Doesn't she know that is RUDE AS HELL [to put it in American terminology]. I am sure that Kate had a hand in picking out the dress, but I am still very, very confused by it.

Please hold while I take a bite of my crumpet and have a sip of my tea.

Ok, continuing on....

Let us quickly and harshly judge Prince Harry's date and on again/ off again girlfriend Chelsey Davies.
I am completely and totally fine with her outfit [those shoes are pretty banging and what an adorable little hat] but homegirl looks a MESS. I believe that sharply dressed man surely was responsbile for issuing a search and subsequently rescuing her from the local pub [or possibly even the corner crack house] mere hours before the wedding. If that is not the case, then Harry needs to take care of his lady a little better and get her a new hair and make up stylist, aka, not Chelsey herself. Homegurl looks RUFF.

And now for a few pictures of Duke and Duchess of Cambridge [ooh la la it sounds so fancy!].

Love the regal military attire. He looks very sharp. It's no wonder that quite has such a smile on her face.

And this is just beyond precious.

Now for a few guest photos...
First of all, I find it very hard to believe that David Beckham and Posh Spice are close personal friends of the Royal Family, but here they are at the event anyway. I have to say, what in the Union Jack hell is on Posh's head? Surely that is something from an SNL skit and not an actual hat, right?

Who invited Mr. Bean?

I mean, really Harry, quit trying to out shine the Bride.

Does anyone know where I can get a hat like this for Steeplechase?? Princesses or not, these hats are out of control.

I honestly never knew that Joss Stone had this much class. I just didn't.

And there you have it folks. The Royal Family lives on. Long Live The Queen!

Just When You Didn't Think It Could Happen....

Denim, on Denim, on Denim, on Denim, on Denim, on mutha fuckin Denim is now an option!

So grab your denim hat, your denim shirt, your denim vest, your denim shoes and your best pair of JEANS and get ready for piece numerp seis- your denim boxers. That's right fellas, following in the widely popular trend of PAJAMA JEANS, you can now get classy with your draws in your JUNDERPANTS!!!!

jorts.jpg

Junderpants completely surpass "Jorts" on the sexy-o-meter and I for one hope to see many a fellow unabashedly rocking these jundies solo [perhaps with a pair of Chuck Taylors]. Sorry for the short post, but I need to rush out and buy some stock in Goldbond. I have a feeling if this trend takes off, I could potentially make millions in the non-chaffing powder market.

What In The....????

I have never been a fan of Lady Gaga and I'm starting to believe [possibly pre-maturely] that she is on her way off of the thrown. Seriously, can we discuss the new single Judas? What a crock of shit.

But not as shitty as this album cover.....

Um......what? So is she a pop star, an alien, or a transformer? That is quite the image switcharoo right there. I wish she would actually defy the laws of humanity and turn into a motorcycle. This photo reminds me of that time when Paris Hilton and Kimberly Stewart rode motorbikes down a red carpet and Kimbo Stewart totally fell off. I think cover must have been inspired by that incident.

See?

That's What I Love About Sundays

I love, love, love, love, LOVE Sundays. As a preachers kid, I grew up going to church on Sundays and while I still very much enjoy a little Sunday morning pew time, I don't make it quite as often as I would like to [sleeping until 12:30 often means missing every service available]. Luckily for me, we have a lot of "nature sanctuaries" here in Nashville and I am able to have my own kind of church service while listening to amazing music and admiring all of God's wonderful creations.

Yesterday, my dear musical friend Brooke Fraser accompanied me to "church", and I just had to share a couple of her songs. I have pretty much listened to her album Albertine constantly since I purchased it a few years ago. It has made me wish for love, long for Africa, and desire to dig for something deeper in my life. "Love Is Waiting" ebbs and flows in and out of my life, sometimes meaning much more to me than other times. It struck a lovely chord with me yesterday, and I wanted to share it. I've also tossed in "C.S. Lewis Song" for good measure because, as the song states, "For we are not long here, our time is but a breath, so we better breathe it". Powerful, powerful words.

For Tha Ladies

This post is going to be more geared towards the girls, but perhaps some of you fellas may benefit from it as well [although I doubt it].

I wanted to share a new product with you guys that I think may change my life, Lancome's Renergie Eye Multiple Action.

This stuff, in my humble opinion, is relatively phenominal. The premise is, you use the cream all over and under your eye before bed and then again in the morning before applying the concealer. The cream is a really great light lavender color and is super creamy and moist with a little going a long way. I can't say that I've noticed a huge difference from the cream alone, but the concealor is absolutely to die for. I have got these horrible "is she ill/ does she have a
black eye" dark circles under my eyes that no amount of sleep, water, or healthiness can seem to get rid of. I usually have to use a spackle like concealer [more on that later], but this one is light and sheer and the coverage is AMAZING. The first time I felt it I thought "there is no way that this shit is going to cover these eyes"but I was wrong as wrong can be. It must be the way the cream and the concealer work together, but whatever it is, I'm a convert. I will warn you- this stuff is NOT cheap, but if you're dealing with some serious circles like me, the money might just be worth it to you.

Speaking of spackle- this is the concealer that I usually use. The coverage is unbelievable, but since it is SO thick, it's also pretty easy to see on the face.

Other beauty products that I'm loving right now:

Nars Orgasm:
I always swore that I would never give into this "cliched" beauty product until my roommate forced me to try it. Turns out there's a reason this blush has a cult following- its phenominal! The color really looks great on everyone and gives your cheeks a gorgeous, flush that looks like....well, I think the name says it all.

Benefit High Beam:
Gorgeous on the tops of the cheekbones. You'll see.

Bare Escentuals Buxom Lash
This stuff makes your lashes look thick, long, and voluminous. It's probably one of my favorite mascaras that I've ever used. My one complaint? It flakes. If anyone knows of a great lash primer that prevents mascara from flaking, I'd love you to share!

Thanks for visiting Lela's Beauty Corner ladies. Feel free to share your favorite products in the comments section!

Love,
Your Friend Lela

Colbie

I have a love/ hate relationship with Colbie Collait. Love because she has a tendency to write really catchy and sometimes touching songs [and there's just something about her that makes me want to be friends] and hate because, well, she's cheesy as hell.

I heard this song for the first time on the radio this morning and I couldn't help but smile. It's still cheesy as hell, but there's something just completely precious about it. While the video lacks some serious creative direction, it made me smile even more. I mean, how could you NOT smile at smiling cheese grater?

Forgetful

Sometimes I forget how much I like Fiction Family. And then I remember. And all is well again. This song came on my shuffle today and i've been listening to it on repeat since then. Enjoy. ;)

Preach

Wow. I Work with This.

I regret with everything in my being that I have not seen a single episode of the new season of the Celebrity Apprentice. Now, normally, I would have no interest in this show, but with the cast this season you simply cannot lose [#winning!]. Nene Leakes, Lil' John, John Rich, the crazy Jackson sister, the lead singer from Sugar Ray that no one cares about. Really, really quality stuff here.

Last night, my good buddy Mr. Meatloaf had a meltdown of epic proportions. Now, not having seen any of this season at all, I can still bet that Gary Busey most likely deserved every bit of anger that was directed at him. I just find it hilarious that Meat has Lil Jon and Mark McGrath holding him back in one scene, while John Rich, country musics resident badass and bully, looks at him with disgust. You know you're in trouble if John Rich is telling you you're out of control. This scene is like the best skit that Saturday Night Live never made. I will watch it over and over and over again.

Friday, Friday, Friday, Friday, FRIDAY

It has been a whirlwind week this week. The things that have happened will live in infamy [mostly on my arm] and the stories will be shared for generations to come. You know what else will be shared for generations to come? Music. Specifically, Fleet Foxes. One day when Jesus comes back and calls his people home, one of those people is going to say "Hey Lord, have you checked out Fleet Foxes yet?" and Jesus is going to say "You mean that band from generations and generations ago? I've been listening to them since before they were cool, my son!"

So, yeah. New Fleet Foxes. Video. Below. You get the idea.
