I Am Going To Be SO Poor

You might think from this post or this post that I am getting paid by Target to promote their designer collections, but the truth is I WISH THAT WERE TRUE. However, I am sadly still poor and still having to buy all of these pieces at full price. RUDE.

The truth is, Target just keeps nailing it on the head with these collections and I have been obsessed with every one! I'm aware that a good portion of the Prabal Gurung collection ended up going to the sale rack, but it certainly wasn't because I didnt do my part in purchasing when it first came out.

I feel like the sale rack will not be an issue with the new Phillip Lim collection that is released on September 15th. Dear Paid Off Credit Card- I'm sorry in advance.

Here's a little stock advice: Invest in Ramen Noodles because that's likely all I'll be eating after my shopping spree.

This leather jacket and navy tuxedo pant are such a sharp combo. The jacket comes in at $249.99 which isn't bad for leather and the pants are a measly $39.99. Add to cart please!

These pants [$39.99] are possibly a little too Belle Meade for me, but I'm loving the blouse [$29.99].

Hello Winter Uniform! Boom Sweatshirt $29.99, Pant $29.99

I don't know what's happening with me and leopard print but the love is on an upward trajectory. I love the unexpected colors in this pattern. Top and skirt would hardly work together in the real world, but this sweater is definitely joining my wardrobe. Sweater $34.99, Skirt $29.99

Preppy Chic Dress $44.99

One thing that I love about this collection is that there is something for the Menz as well. Look at how sharp and dapper these fellas look! some_text

One of my favorite parts of this collection is the bags. Look at how beautiful and on trend they are. some_text
Love, Love, Love I'm getting my elbows warmed up- see you at Target on the 15th!!

Frank + Derol

There's something to be said for an understated elegance in pop music and Frank + Derol hits the nail right on the head. The group is comprised of Brandi Cyrus [yes, of THAT Cyrus fame] and Codi Caraco, young, talented females who met while on tour with other artists and started making music together. I love when groups happen organically in that way and aren't at all contrived.

From what I gather from Twitter, the band, or at least Brandi, is currently based out of Nashville and we are more than happy to claim them. This EP does a good job of fitting nearly any mood I am in and I can't get enough of it. I am anxiously awaiting a live performance [may I humbly suggest the High Watt?] and a full length album. Here's hoping they both come soon!

Sexy Isn't Just for Saturdays

Do you need some new sexy music? Have you listened to Bruno Mars' "Guerilla" until you're blue in the balls face?

Here's some new sexy music for you by a 22 year Angelino named Nylo [I hope that isn't her Biblical name]. Take it into your weekend. Do fun things. Use protection.

You Oughtta Know

Cayucas has quickly become one of my favorite bands of 2013 and their 2013 release Bigfoot has had me feeling beachy vibes all summer long. Check out the album in its entirety below and let me know what you think in the comments!

College Crushes

Hey Belmont Grads.

Remember how, back in college, no matter what age, race, gender or religion you were, we were all pretty much obsessed with Matt Wertz [and his bestie Dave Barnes]. Well turns out, he's still got it. He put out a hilarious new video recently for a song that is an appropriately awesome throwback to a more Richard Marx era- I ain't mad at it. That video led me to a home grown vid for a song called "Someone Like You" that took me back to my college days, so I just had to share it.

I think I'll congratulate him the next time I see him at the Green Hills YMCA.

I Choose You

I'm pretty sure I've made this confession before, but let me make it again- I have a sever girl crush on Sara Bareilles. I want to be her friend and I want to get into her mind for at least a day and get a fraction of an inkling of how to express myself as poetically as she does.

I have been listening to this song from her new album The Blessed Unrest on repeat for about a week straight [only after listening to "1000 Times" on repeat since release day]. I am currently obsessed. I cannot wait to see her at the historic Ryman Auditorium this coming Saturday and if she is coming to a city near you I HIGHLY recommend you go.

Check out "I Choose You" below. Do it. Love it.

Bringing the Blog Back with Saints of Valory

So, it's only been a few short.......months (!!) since my last post. Oopsies. Let's pretend I was on a magical vacation in a far away land [I wasn't] and didn't have access to Internet service [ I did].

Forgive me.

Today I bring the blog back for a couple of reasons. There is this hot new artist on the scene out of New Zealand that I'm kind of obsessed with. Her name is Lorde, and we will talk more about her in another post. There is another hot new band out of Austin called Saints of Valory and they have covered a song from hot new artist Lorde- it's enough to make your mind combust.

Check out the Saints of Valory cover of "Royals" below and stay tuned for more info on both acts!

It feels good to be back :)
