God Bless America!

John Mayer has finally cut his hair! I mean, sometimes you gotta just do you and not care what other folks think, but looks like ole Johnny M finally realized that he's most handsome with some shorter locks.

In Gross News For Today

Avril Lavigne is engaged to Nickeback's front man Chad Kroeger. Let me give you a second to rinse your mouth out after gagging.

Evidently, the two met six months ago with they got together to write a song for Avril's new album [sorry, did you just vom again?] and have been dating ever since. Never mind that 10 year age difference, or Avril's divorce, she landed a 14 carat ring after less than a year. How unfair.

At least she got him to cut that awful hair!

PS- I didn't even know that she and Brody Jenner broke up??

OBSESSION OF THE DAY

This Just Made My Tuesday SO Happy

More Signs of the Apocalypse

Last night, Taylor Swift did a live chat via YouTube with her fans and she previewed the first single from her new album, Red. As a self-proclaimed pop culture journalist [HA!] I felt as if it were my duty to report on this serious issue.

I'm going to give you the bad news first- the new single "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together"

Ok, now do you want the even worse news?? I KIND OF LIKE IT! WHAT IS HAPPENING TO ME???

Reasons why this song is likable:
#1- This is really and truly the MOST important reason- this song is likable because Taylor Swift has finally embraced her popness and isn't trying to make this a country song! I said a long time ago that I would like Swifty more if she would just admit she was trying to be Paramore and not Loretta Lynn. Who knows what the rest of the album is going to sound like, but this is SOLID pop music and I'm ok with that!
#2- The song is obviously catchy and has some fun elements to it [again, Pop elements, not pop disguised as country]. Clearly Taylor is never going to stop writing about her ex-boyfriends in a very unsubtle way [not that she should], but this one is definitely less melodramatic than say "Dear John" or any of her other break up songs. She turned sad into fun- good for you.
#3- Nowhere did I hear any mentions of castles, football games, princes, white horses or prom. Somebody's growing up!
#4- This song is clearly about Jake Gyllenhaal.

So be fully prepared to hear this song constantly on 107.5 The River and possibly never at all on WSIX- I think Swift is ok with that. What do you guys think of the song- am I officially losing it?

Also, I think that Kennedy kid should consider this song fair warning.

Loving This

Special thanks to a reader who knows I love David Ramirez and sent this my way...

Make Me Look Like Robyn

So Miley Cyrus cut her hair off and the whole world is freaking out about it so I thought I BETTER FREAK OUT ABOUT IT TOO!!!!

The thing is, I actually kind of love it. The picture that most sites are using make it look like it was done with a Weed Whacker, but you can see the lines of the cut a little better in this pic.

Granted I think this one

and this one

did this hair cut first [and better?], but dats ok, you can't always be the one SETTING the trends Miles. I'm not kidding, I kind of love this hair cut and wish I could pull it off myself, but it doesn't look great on faces that are as round as a grapefruit. Wah wahhhhh.

Mrusic Mronday

It is rainy and dreary here in Nashville today, but every now and then the sun will try really hard to peep out, then it all goes to black and rain again. It is really messing with my mood and confusing my musical selections for the day. Right now, Niki & The Dove seems to be working, so I hope it works for you too!

MORE MUSIC MONDAY

This cute little band reached out to me a few weeks ago for professional reasons and I also happen to enjoy them quite a bit! Loving this video as well- what do you think of New Beat Fund?

MUSIC MONDAY

whoop whoop, it's Music Monday! Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Let's start out today with a band that was sent to me by a friend that I really, REALLY like- check out Cheers Elephant below!

Dear John

Go back to Montana! This is a CODE RED bad idea!!!!

PS- I thought Katy and Taylor Swift were friends? Exhibit A, Exhibit B , and Exhibit C are all right here. Someone call the Girl Code Police!

US Weekly has FINALLY given us a shot of the new Kardashian baby, Penelope Scotland, on this weeks issue. Here are my thoughts:

1) Mason may literally be the cutest thing on the face of the planet
2) Penelope is an adorable name and an adorable baby
3) Uh, where is Scott?
4) No, seriously, where is Scott? When watching the show ( and you know I do with pride), I can't tell if he's just really that big of a dick or if Kourtney is kiiiiiiiiind of a bitch [or is it really just both?]. The part about her not letting him sleep in a bed with her because she'd prefer her 2 (?) year old son there instead is WEIRD. How did they even get knocked up with this second little angel?

My professional marital advice would be that if Kourtney wants Scott to step up as a dad and start changing diapers, she might need to let him in her life and bed a little more and, you know, the US Weekly covers as well.

RUDE!

My dad never built me a roller coaster in the backyard!!

Then again, I'm terrified of roller coasters, so maybe that's a good thing.

More Music Monday!

So, moving on to the new Passion Pit album Gossamer. Am I the only one who just feels "meh" about it? This is coming from a pretty big PP fan who loved both Manners  and Chunk of Change. This one just feels a little lackluster to me. Now I will say, I am often the person who feels iffy on an album when it initially comes out and then a month later I am obsessed with it [it's a personality flaw], so I may very well change my mind, but right now I am just not totally loving it. Your thoughts?

MUSIC MONDAY

Ok guys, at the requests of a few readers, I am attempting to get off my lazy butt and actually post some more. It's been one hot minute since I've posted a Music Monday and there have been LOTS of fantastic albums that have come out since my last post, so I'm going to attempt to hit the ground running today. Since there is a lot of ground to cover, I probably won't review each album in depth, but will try to give a short version of my opinion.

As always, I appreciate when you guys give me feedback, especially when it's "Get Off Your Lazy Butt!" No, really, I do. :)

Ok, first album I'm posting today is the new Missy Higgins. This little Australian nugget won my heart over a few years ago with her 2007 album On A Clear Night and especially this little gem  which still slays me every single time I listen to it.

I don't think the new album has the honesty behind it that the last one did, but it's definitely worth a listen. What do you think?
