At a press conference this morning, Barack Obama defended his invitation to anti-gay pastor Rick Warren to give the invocation at his inauguration.

Said Obama, via TPM:

"Well, let me start by talking about my own views. I think it is no secret that I am a fierce advocate for equality for gay and lesbian Americans. It is something I have been consistent on and something I intend to continue to be consistent on during my presidency...What I've also said is that it is important for America to come together even though we may have disagreements on certain social issues...And I would note that a couple of years ago I was invited to Rick Warren's church to speak, despite his awareness that I held views entirely contrary to his when it came to gay and lesbian rights, when it came to issues like abortion....Nevertheless, I had an opportunity to speak, and that dialogue, I think, is a part of what my campaign's been all about, that we're never going to agree on every single issue. What we have to do is create an atmosphere where we can disagree without being disagreeable, and then focus on those things that we hold in common as Americans. So Rick Warren has been invited to speak, Dr. Joseph Lowery -- who has deeply contrasting views to Rick Warren about a whole host of issues -- is also speaking."

I think this is so great. I agree with Obama completely. It's time for the anti gays to just get over it and be more open minded, and for the gays to stop belly aching about everything that doesn't conform to their beliefs. I couldn't have said it better- agree to disagree "without being disagreeable". Genius.

Ok if we're being honest, I haven't even heard of some of these people. What I do know is that a lot of the people that I do know on this list are not in appropriate spots (really? the Jonas Brothers and Taylor Swift got a higher ranking than The Raconteurs/ Nas?).

My opinion of Rolling Stone is that they have zero music credibility. Those of you that read/subscribe to the magazine know that it is nothing but a publication to push a political agenda and that their reviews are rarely spot on.

Ok I know that about 89% of the people who read my blog have already seen this, but I had to post it anyway.

Ok guys, I haven't been terribly political on this blog since the election, but something has got me fired up and I felt like I needed to address it.

After about the 3rd email from a family member discussing how Barack Obama is probably not a natural born citizen, I got a little ticked off. I feel like this is the Salem Witch Trials! Are we on a witch hunt for Obama? Are we going to hang him over the lake if it turns out to be true? What is the matter with people?

In the last email that I received, it spoke of credible journalists that are asking serious questions- the article it reference was from an Internet News Site (not even a real paper!) from Tulsa, OK (no offense to Tulsa, but it's not exactly the epicenter of political expertise) and the article referenced a few ex lawyers, some bloggers, one random doctor, and just random people as the key folks who are challenging Obamas citizenship.

When did bloggers become credible journalists? Am I a credible journalist now? Does everything I say count as law because I have a blog- I gotta say, that's a power I could get on board with.

Here's the thing- do I think Obama should show his birth certificate? Sure. At this point, why not? It will hush the nay sayers and prove everyone wrong.

The real issue here is that people are uncomfortable with Obama being President and they are trying to find any reason they can to de-throne him from his new position. If we are so upset about him being President, then we need to really address why that is- and any information that you have gotten about him from an EMAIL CHAIN does not count! Take all of that away and what do we have left?

Only the color of his skin.

If you don't agree with his policies then that is one thing ( I voted for him and I dont agree with all of his policies)- but if you are against him because he is black, then you are un-American, not him.

Grammy Nominations!!!

Did anyone see the Grammy Nominations Concert last night? I know some people hated it, but I think it's a really good idea! It was a chance for previous Grammy winners to pay respects to the songs that were inducted in the the Hall of Fame this year (some of the performances rocked and some were kind of a snooze fest) and to just have a good time during the nominations.

Tooooooons of great people were nominated (bottom of the post) and I am not biased towards any of them (haha!).

Mariah did "Baby Please Come Home" from her Christmas album, and that girl has STILL GOT IT. She rocked it. She was fairly immobile- i think she was afraid she would fall in those boots.

Also Christina Aguilera was looking classy and singing a song that is PERFECT for her. Dear XTina- this is what you should be singing!!!

Taylor Swift was fun as a host with LL Cool J (despite it being a kind of weird combo). She sang Brend Lee's "I'm Sorry" and sounded kind of doodoo on that but then went into her song "White Horse" and kind of redeemed herself.......all while pointedly looking at ex boyfriend Joe Jonas who was conveniently sitting in the front row. Why oh why didn't they give us a reaction shot from him? Fuel the flame CBS!!!!

Presenting a new segment that will appear weekly (or maybe more often) on Your Friend Lela- That Is Not A Dress ( idea and today's photos courtesy of Your Friend Alexander). 

You guys all know what we're talking about- these trollips who

 think that a tunic shirt that almost covers their chubby cheeks counts as a dress. It doesn't. 

Here's how the segment works- you guys take photos of girls who are wearing "not dresses" when you see them out (or on the web) and send them in. Location of photo is fun, but not necessary. Then I post them here for all to enjoy.
